About

David Anderson is a freelance writer and a Bible Geek. How do you know he’s a Bible Geek? He got a Masters of Theological Studies and a Masters of Theology degree just so he would have the opportunity to read and translate from the Hebrew and Greek texts. Doing this took his imagination places it never would have gone otherwise, which for writing is very important. He recently had the honor of being named in the Marquis Biography Online (marquiswhoswho.com)

He is the author of Dark Nights of the Soul: Reflections on Faith and the Depressed Brain, which won the Self Published E-book award from Writer’s Digest in the Nonfiction category, and the upcoming novel, A Gladiator’s Oath. As a member of the Foothills Writers Guild, where he won the Juanita Garrison Prize for Unpublished Fiction.

His fiction explores the complexities of being human, often in Biblical Fiction. His nonfiction usually covers topics of Biblical commentary, mental health, and popular culture. He would like to see Biblical Fiction recognized as a separate category from Christian Fiction. Christian Fiction should be seen as a subgenre of Biblical Fiction. Examples of Biblical Fiction that are not Christian Fiction would include Anita Diamant’s The Red Tent, and Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale.
